Strike a Pose Workflow for Portraits

This is a “workflow” and will give you all the tools you need to edit your portraits. The presets are “layered” which means you can stack them on top of each other without cancelling out the effects. Tint, expose, brighten or sharpen any portrait with these presets. Finally you can use “brushes” to work in individual areas of the photos. The Essence of Good Portrait Photography

One of the widest and most popular photography niches is portrait photography. This is because it is relatively easy to get started with, your subjects will always come to you and they are in plenty. One of the things that most portrait photographers do not keep in mind is that there are some things that make for good portrait photography. Without some of these aspects, no matter how good of a photographer you may be, you may not produce the best photographs.

1.Lighting

This is undoubtedly one of the most important aspects of photography. Without proper lighting, you will not only be unable to capture your subjects, you will also not be able to capture the best parts of them or their details. This is especially true if you decide to shoot in low light conditions or if you have a camera that does not pick up enough amounts of lights. If you suspects that this is the situation you are in, the best thing to do would be to shoot out in the outdoors or to get some lighting equipment to help you out.

2. Good equipment

While it is true that to capture the best portrait photographs you have to have the right skills, the equipment that you use has to be on par with the quality that you would like to produce. The equipment that you have in your bag can make or break your portrait photography. Therefore be sure to upgrade your equipment as you go along if you would like to keep improving.

3. Post-production

There are lots of arrangements for and against using post-productions software such as Lightroom for photo production. As we have mentioned above, one of the essences of good portrait photography is having and using the right equipment. One of these pieces of equipment is your computer and the accompanying software. If you are looking to edit your photographs fast, using Lightroom presets may be the best route to take. Portrait Lightroom presets not only improve your production time, they also enhance the quality of your images for a more professional look.

4. Location

This ties in very tightly into lighting. Taking a picture at the wrong location might ruin it completely. For example, you cannot take newborn portraits on a cliff, they will be off. Therefore as a photographer, you have to develop a sense of choosing the best location for your photographs. This not only exposes you to many different types of portrait photography such as indoor and outdoor photography, is also shows that you are a diverse photographer in your portfolio.

5. Continuous Learning

The realm of photography is always changing. In order to keep up and to be on the cutting edge of all these changes, you have to continuously improve. This will not only show in the work that you do but it will speak to your character as a photographer.
